Philly Fed for May

In this month's Business Outlook Survey the region's manufacturers report continued business growth. Indicators for current new orders and shipments changed little from their readings in April. Nearly one-fifth of the respondents indicated an expansion of employment again this month, which is indicative of the underlying strength in the manufacturing sector. Although input prices continue to show upward pressure, the prices received index suggests less upward pressure than in the previous month. Manufacturers' forecasts for the next six months remain cautious.
