i wonder how strong the HMO's would be if the doctors hadn't endorsed them in the first place. it takes groups of doctors to comprise those HMO's. again, i'm not pointing a finger at those doctors, just suggesting it's not ALL the HMO's fault. heck, i know when i take my son to the doctor, the doctor sees him for about 3 minutes and the nurse the remaining 7 minutes.
oh, and as for a comparison to an internet startup... apples to oranges. most of those who enter an internet startup don't go into virtually "guaranteed" income. hence, they're rewarded not only for their success, but also the amount of risk they've taken.
also, let me state i wasn't suggesting doctors (the vast majority) are extremely overpaid. many still make an honest living and work extremely hard in doing so. i'm not trying to bash doctors, as they are one of the most valuable groups in our society.
