Int'l Wayside names Atkinson as chairman International Wayside Gold Mines Ltd IWA Shares issued 37,963,497 May 10 close $2.04 Thu 18 May 2000 News Release Mr. J. Frank Callaghan reports Richard C. Atkinson, P.Eng, has been appointed chairman of the board of directors for the company. The company has also retained Haywood Securities Inc., of Vancouver, B.C., as the company's financial and corporate advisers. Nancy Curry has been retained as corporate communications. Mr. Atkinson, a graduate in mining engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1965, has had a lengthy career in exploration, project evaluation, and mine and plant design. He has served public and private general resource companies in North America and Australia, both as a consultant and as an executive. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. The company has engaged Haywood Securities Inc. as corporate adviser to provide advice to the company regarding disclosure and other strategic matters. The engagement is for a six-month period. Haywood Securities founded in 1981 is an independent, full-service, investment dealer with offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. Ms. Curry brings over 13 years of market and financial experience to her role as corporate communications. She has spent the last five years in corporate communications for Mountain Province Mining Inc. Previous to that she supervised the Vancouver futures desk and was a VCT (Vancouver computerized trading) trader for Marleau Lemire Securities Inc. Ronald Simpson, P.Geo, of Geosim Services Inc., has been retained by the company and has completed an independent resource calculation on Cow Mountain. Geosim Services Inc. is retained to plan and supervise the confirmation work program on Cow Mountain. |
