You're right-- it was not a kidnapping case. But the wording you use is troubling --they gave Juan-Miguel the opportunity to see his son if he wanted to
Who were they to withhold Juan's son from him at all?
HE was not some distant relative, but the boy's father for six years.
Why did they feel they could make the rules that governed his seeing his son?
ANd that man in the closet holding Elian was not family, nor was the photographer, so handily close by. Nor all those people surrounding the house.
