T. Who is Dr. Tracy and whom does he represent? The statement
is obviously a public relations attempt to interfere with a sound
decision on medical grounds, the emotional appeal notwithstanding.
CEPH's CEO Baldini has tried every trick in the book to politically
influence the FDA, including his blatant 1995 complaints, also on
an emotional level. Patients' cries are surely heart-breaking, but
should they be treated with a useless drug, which even may represent
a risk based on the excessive mortality of the treated patients in the
European study? At some point, the investment community has to
face reality, and allow the FDA to keep up standards of drug treatment. The Advisory Panel included eminent and wise neurologists, who certainly felt for the ALS patients. Mel
