You are correct in your assumption of the way the averages are calculated. If you're looking at 10 minute bars and want to see a 10 period average, you get the most recent 10 bars, averaged.

After I saw the way QT was posting the hourly 5/8 I knew that couldn't be what you've been talking about. I went over to IQC and created the following:

IQC doesn't offer the hourly bar, so this chart is the 30 minute bar. It also won't let you mix the MA types, so these are both EMAs. But, you can still get the picture.

I agree about wanting a RT version of Timely. It would be worth a lot to most of us. Quote Tracker could do the job, but not without showing several consecutive days.
