(* Chief, you have the no ticker rule for your thread, but aren't I*M and H*P also techs on the DOW, even if they have low enough multiples that they don't count as crazies. Frankly I don't really know if your IN*C will really grow as much for the rest of the year, but I won't even debate that.

I think even if the blue-chip non techs do not suffer as much (initially), the people like me who hang around these stock chatlines are attracted to the what I euphemistically call TECHS, which is more than just inuts.

For us who are flawed enough in our thinking to concentrate our investment in techs, even if the broader market was to stay unchanged, the pain for some will be very real (especially for those who still believe that buy and hold applies to stocks with P/E of 200+).

Suppose what you are claiming is true, that this is just a cyclical sector rotation, then that begs the question : what is the end result of this sector rotation? If the answer is downward adjustment of P/E, then I don't see how many of these tech stocks can survive a multiple contraction to what is considered sane levels without some major pain. The level of change is going to feel like being mauled by a polar bear regardless of what the DOW numbers say.

After that, who knows what happens.

Great cloaking device. Say, are you sure this works? *)
