Sync, avici.com Avici took a box and slapped gobs of interfaces on it. Not sure about all the specs but it lacks some key software capabilities such as BGP. Fundamentally it's not about how many interfaces you can put in a box - it's about what kind of services can easily, quickly, and reliably be deployed. Avici has a good start but the market is closing quickly since most carriers are aligned with Cisco or Juniper by now. It'll be a challenge - not insurmountable though - no more so that Cisco's penetration into the optical market... well actually a little more so. I'd say Cisco's chances of capturing share in the optical market is greater than Avici's in the core routing space. ;) OG
