The major issue this time around for SANs was Software -software management and software integration into heterogenuos environment and Running IP SANs much of which has been brought up by Kumar of Piper-
Qlogic seems to feel this is where they can really add to Ancor's value as they have alot of experience from going to testing to real working SANs- If Qlogic/Ancor can develop this software bridge from infrastructure to switch to large fabric SANs we can probably take on Brocade bigtime. From what I understand it was this end to end solution with the ability to develop the proper software that had Greg Reyes go ballistic to the point that he declared Qlogic a competitor and may not want to be in the position to reccomend Qlogic and compared it to a wife that wanted to go out and date.
SOFTWARE and it's IMPORTANCE is on CENTER STAGE at this CONFERENCE and in this PHASE of STORAGE NETWORK development and it is crucial to the SUCCESS and LONGEVITY and FUTURE RAMP of the SANS- So you tech PEOPLE-TELL US WHERE WE ARE HEADED?
HK said they usually get to the customer first so he's not worried and recently HK and Reyes have toned down the rhetoric to the point that Reyes called the merger good for the industry and HK says they will let the customer choose the switch. I don't think either one believes in the tooth fairy though.
Still alot of bad feelings between Ancor and Brocade.

I'm sure there is more but can't remember right now.
