I do not think INTEL is scared. It seems to be acting prudently. One million RDRAM components is about $26 M.
Not a whole lot of money to address the MYH problem.

The notion that Via is going to field millions of new motherboards using DDR is an invitation to the same types of problems that Intel jas had with the high clock rate memory product transitions. Lots can go wrong with a DDR product transition based on new high speed processors from AMD.

If the marketplace gets too unfriendly for INTEL it may expand its own motherboard production.
