Marshall,

These are good questions, and I'll be checking to see what TC has to say.

Thomas a question for you, actually 2: Do you make your decision on a MA crossover or MA match? Is it enough if the 2 averages are equal or does one have to be greater?

It's been my own experience that the moment of "matching" is just that... a moment. Unless you're watching RT and all the time (which I believe you do) that moment would be hard to catch. I've also seen, just as you have, that the MAs can switch back and forth some of the time prior to an actual crossover.

One of the things I remember in a seminar I took years ago on the use of Stochastics was the moment of a shift in direction. George Lane (daddy of Stochastic) called it a "Hook". That was the first break in the direction of S prior to it making a crossover. I believe the same logic can be applied to MAs for a jump start on a trade.
