Re: Gorillas

The key insight I took away from Moore's The Gorilla Game is that "gorilladom" has nothing to do with market share or growth rate. The distinguishing characteristic of all true gorillas is that they head a value chain of companies who are all aligned to support the gorilla. True gorillas like MSFT, INTC, and CSCO maintain their positions at the top of their markets because there are literally thousands upon thousands of other companies who labor in their pastures and whose interests are in alignment with the gorilla. Given this backdrop I still regard EMC as an "emerging gorilla" in storage. In Moore's terms, I don't think one can characterize NAS as supportive of gorillas yet, though NTAP is clearly very well positioned in this space.
