Does anyone know a source for downloading history of the S&P 500 and similar indices? I looked on Yahoo, where one can get it for a stock, but it isn't apparent to me how one would get an index. Specifying an index is a bit more apparent on Excite, but no download. I would really like to get some significant time depth, not just a couple of years. Nothing serious, mind you, just a little educational game I want to create for a friend.
