Boy, lots of misinformation flying around the ole NT thread today. Let's get started -

1. LU's optical equipment business did a little over $4B in CY00 and is tracking ahead of guidance for 50% growth in 00. Internal estimates peg 2000 sales at a bit over $7B - not the $5B that TP cited.

2. LU's optoelectronic components business is counted as part of LU microelectronics NOT optical equipment. This business did over $700M in CY99, of which 20% was captive. This business is growing about 100% in CY00. NB. NT does include merchant component sales in its optical equipment numbers, but this is relatively small for NT ~ $100M.

3. LU reported OC192 sales of just under $200 for March quarter, with 4 customers. I believe these customers are Global Crossing, Telefonica, British Telecom and Beijing Telecom Authority.

4. LU has firm commitments for its OC192 platform from DT, BT, Telefonica, Global Crossing, Telecom Italia, KPN, Tele1, Telia, Beijing Telecom Authority, NTT, Metromedia. Commitments are likely from AT&T, and I hear very good things about the chances at Sprint and MCI. While NT has a longer customer list, I'll take this over anybody else.
