Nick, I think that in an election year, AG will have no stomach for dishing out the nasty tasting medicine. Right now, I think he is cooling the faked stats for awhile before trying to pump them up in Sept and Oct for Al to Gore Bush. Most of his experience in the past has been handing out Whip Inflation Now (WIN) buttons during the 1970s and being laughed out of govt. <g> So, we don't really know what he will do when the pedal hits the metal, but my educated guess is that he will err on the side of cowardice and making things look better in the very short term at the cost of huge dislocations in the long term. That has been his move every time since he's been Fed honcho.
