HB, something I've been thinking about. If margin debt in April only declined 10%, and it was at record levels (280 billion or so comes to mind), that should indicate that despite all of the howling about how margined players have "left the building", there is still an impressive amount of margin in play. If so, given this week's price action, we should be in for some ongoing, rolling margin calls into next week. I suspect that fewer and fewer of these will be met with cash. Although we are somewhat oversold, I'd say much less so than on April 14th (based on VIX and on index oscillators). Therefore, the "water torture" could accelerate into another free fall in the immediate future (Monday-Tuesday).
