Happened to run across your message as I was looking over the thread. What you say is very true. Attitude and correct understanding will help an individual prosper in order that he or she may build His Kingdom and at the same time be blessed himself.
I had it in my heart to get involved in trading and investing full time about 3 years ago. Within 18 months, I lost almost 80% of my investment capital. I knew scripture but also knew that my attitude toward investing was at times quite "worldly". I sought the Lord and despite my dear wife telling me investing wasn't for me, I continued, asking God to give me a correct understanding where I was lacking and to give me a right heart. I was taking unnecessary chances and my thoughts were quite self-centered. In essence, I finally put it all on the altar.
Today, I've regained all my losses and have started making a good profit. I'm not saying I never make mistakes. Nor am I saying that the temptation to get into something a little risky hasn't transpired since. What I am saying is that I have yielded it all to Him as Lord and when I do invest in something I knew I shouldn't (whether I profit or lose doesn't matter), I confess and move on.
Being an obedient and good steward is talked about numerous times in one form or the other in God's word. If we are faithful, His faithfulness towards us will far exceed what we've given to Him.
Attitude, attitude, attitude is so very important in determining whether or not God will bless our efforts. What are our motives?
