Re: your lega nord frenzy....

Operation Quasar and Gaddafi

The mafia supported separatist movements in Northern ( Lega Nord) and Southern Italy (Free Sicily), just like Libyan leader Gaddafi. That came from judges from the Sicilian towns Palermo and Caltanissetta, they worked for a year with judges in Florence in this secret investigation. It was called Operation Quasar and it was disclosed 1 june 1997 by the newspaper La Repubblica. The mafia worked with Licio Gelli in their separatist plans. One pentito [ie Mafia turncoat] said it was common knowledge that Italy's protest party Lega Nord had been a project of [P2 Lodge mastermind Licio] Gelli and former prime minister Giulio Andreotti. More interesting for the mafia was the start of a Southern Italian league, that would function as a political hideout for the mafia. This never-started Lega Sud would have had as a goal the secession of Sicily. In this project also came up the name of Gaddafi: according to pentito Leonardo Messina, Colonel Gaddafi already supported in 1991 the Southern Italian separatism of the mafia with money and weapons. Gaddafi said in an interview that Sicilians wanted independence. Gaddafi also said that in the year 2000 he would be greeted as the messiah in Sicily.
