Here's a JavaOne conference talk....Looks like Hitachi will use JIRO like Imation does to attach peripherals to the SAN. ZOOX on the JIRO wagon too? Who wouldn't want the ability to connect to SUNW SANs. Creekpath? Who are they

Abstract
The Distributed Management Task Force's (DMTF) Common Information Model(CIM) provides a powerful tool for modeling computer devices and software. This presentation describes a brief history of the DMTF and CIM, and a discussion of the major portions of the CIM schema. The remainder of the presentation describes how a JiroTM technology-based open storage management facade is produced from the CIM schema and how the resulting classes would interface with a CIMOM or SNMP-enabled device. JavaTM platform interfaces are generated for each object in the CIM hierarchy and implemented in a set of Java programming language classes (Java classes). The object hierarchy, described by CIM, is exactly mirrored by the Java classes and each CIM attribute is replicated by a FederatedBeansTM technology-based component property in the Java classes. Communication to the device is performed using Sun's WBEM services or using a Java technology SNMP package. Examples are taken from the CIM storage media library object and sample Java programming language code is provided.
