If I had ever seen a reasonable suggestion about how to safely privatize safety nets I would be less supportive of the federal government doing it. But I have never read a proposal I consider truly safe. The reason I included all those programs is that X2 thinks they are all socialist- all he would have is a police force an army- and one other thing (which I've forgotten). It's hard to decide- within a strict definition of socialism- which things are and are not socialist. So I erred on the side of inclusion. But I don't care enough about the classification problem to argue about it. I'd accept your classification for any of the programs I mentioned- for the purposes of discussion.
