I think your wrong about this. The original statement is:

>>the hostility of Americans towards immigrants is borne out of their acceptance of socialism.<<

I suspect the underlying logic is that Americans hate socialism, most immigrants (according to X2) accept socialism, therefore Americans hate immigrants.
