THIS IS WHY DDR WILL BE SUCCESSFUL - and fortunately for AMD longs Intel doesn't seem to have come to grips with this yet.

More than anything the single largest factor that will make DDRDRAM win is that DDR comes out of the same die as PC100/133. Depending on the implementation it can be either bonding, or wafer sort or worst case metal mask option. This makes capacity planning incredibly easy for memory guys and makes it easy for them to say "no" Intel.

If only Intel had been paying a little attention to the memory guys who know a thing or two about memory manufacturing....
