The word I think you're looking for is paternalistic. The people on these boards are not your average American. My guess is that we have a group that is, on average, considerably more affluent than the norm. This proposal will not affect them much, no matter what. I know many Average Joes whose finances are so poor (somewhat reflecting their money management skills) that they do not even put in the 3% to the Company's 401(k) plan which the company will match with another 3%!. That's right, they don't take thousands of dollars the company wants to give them every year. At one financial institution of which I have intimate knowledge, 60% do not take the free money. Thousands of dollars! I have no idea of what is going on in Chile. What I see going on here is worrying.
