Hi Peter, I find that interesting if not just a bit confusing. For that to hold true, then the Covad dude must have had remote control of the OSSes and OAM&Ps (operation, administration, maintenance and provisioning systems) on the Pac Bell side.

There are addresses and vc's that need to be set, persmissions, policy issues, etc. that need to be specified on these things. I suspect there is more to this than the technician told you. New DSL services which are based on ATM DSLAMs are not provisioned in three minutes, to the best of my knowledge. Perhaps he merely re-invoked the service? If not, OAM&P has come a long way in a very short time.

Anyway, thanks for sharing that piece of information with us, illustrating that at least a part of my previous message might hold some truth. <g>
