Many investors refuse to sell their stocks at current levels due to the fact that they are doing their own DD and have a clear Idea of what the company does, its future growth and revenues.

While this is undoubtedly true of many investors in particular sectors, and the average investor's understanding of the market is increasing, it is not true of the typical new do-it-yourself investor over the last couple of years. Many of these investors are just following along, buying what is going up, without having much of an idea of the company's fundamentals, nor the ability to do a lot of digging. Or, at least that was the case before the latest slump.

The only danger to the current US economy is OIL prices. The Gulf Oil Producers can't afford to have oil trading in the mid teens for the first time in their history.I live in the Middle East and have a very good Idea on what is going on with Oil producing countries at the moment.

If a more conservative Bush administration is elected, I suspect there would be more pressure to use the SPR to offset big rises from OPEC restrictions. What do you think would be the middle east reaction?
