Excuse me - but what is the "viability" problem of GSM?

I think you guys are miscommunicating again...I think gdichaz is speaking of the current spectrum that is allocated to GSM/GPRS (900 Mhz/1800MHz) in Europe. What is the next step of evolution for this spectrum? I'm not familiar with the size of these spectrum bands....would they allow a W-CDMA overlay? What is the price/performance cost of EDGE vs. a CDMA overlay?

At a guess....I doubt most operators will do much with these bands over the next 5 years (unless wireless data explodes beyond our wildest dreams). Of course, I think that wireless operators are missing their chance to become the world's largest ISP's....BWDIK.
