Japan Stocks Review: Nikkei ends at lowest level since June 4

By Mai Iida, BridgeNews Tokyo--May 22--The Nikkei 225 Stock Average ended
Monday's session at its lowest level since June 4, as continued selling by
foreign investors spurred other investors to off-load issues following the
declines on Wall Street Friday. High-priced information technology issues
remained in a downward trend. Investment trusts provided support in the
afternoon session, buying on dips.
The Nikkei fell 472.16 points, or 2.8%, to
16,386.01.

* * * The Nikkei 225 June futures contract closed down 500 at 16,300 on the
Osaka Securities Exchange (OSE). Volume on the first section of the Tokyo Stock
Exchange (TSE) totaled an estimated 600.7 million shares, down from an estimated
