Right, the point is we all tend to sort of stick with old tools. Ironically, I have not been that way with languages like C++ and Java, choosing to jump relative early -- relative to the mean -- in both cases.

BTW, you really should look at Servlets and their primary application: Java Server Pages. I thought it was just an auxiliary technology to Java but about 4 months ago the notion of JSP taking over dynamic content on the web was started to look feasible -- two year time frame before the majority of sites employ products based on JSP. Microsoft will still be cranking away with Captive Server Pages and they will be successful with that, too.
