MALIBU, Calif. ?? Mark Reynolds Hughes, founder of the Herbalife empire of weight loss and nutritional products,
has died at age 44, authorities said Sunday.

Hughes was found dead in his Malibu mansion, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Norine Plett. He died of
apparent natural causes but an autopsy will determine the cause of death, she said.

Los Angeles-based Herbalife sells weight management, personal care and nutritional products. In 1998,
the company posted earnings of $48.5 million on sales of $867 million.
