Sham, Their is no new system now, or tomorrow, or next month, I don't think. There is no picture on their site. No white paper about throughput, etc., They aren't going to the SAN2000 conference. They have finished a round of financing and have some job openings. Kumar could have picked Adaptec's initiative to write about. The nice thing about Kumar putting the ink on the page is we get to see how accurate he is and assign some value to his opinions in the future. Very soon.
Kumar states..Sun (SUNW) would seem a likely partner based on its somewhat agnostic response to Fibre Channel and SANs altogether.
Is this an accurate statemement? SUNW may be slow, but we have plenty of evidence on this thread that SUNW is pretty serious about networked storage, and fortunately for us we don't have long to wait on this.
Could he be uninformed? Not too likely, must be another reason? Is PJ trying to push BRCD down and make some money? I don't know, but I doubt that SUNW is agnostic on this issue and Kumar should already know stuff like this.
Can't wait for June 14 to arrive and I sure hope that SUNW doesn't issue all those invites and say "We are storage Agnostics", and don't know what to do.
Trust no one. Gilder advises ML now and he may be a gifted writer, but since he has started a stock newsletter instead of being an essayist, he is way out on some pretty thin ice on many issues besides storage. I still read him, but have a healthy distrust of what he says. Some of it doesn't fit with the truth as it exists on various SI threads.
Time will tell. |
