I see what you're saying. But... If you want to get lawyerly about it - the first passage wasn't God talking, but John if I remember right. In his enthusiasm (sic!) he might have presumed an attitude upon God.

The second one was sort of tortuous. (And also an indirect account; we're sort of asked to trust a tired, thirsty Moses to have the words right.) Yes, there was a fragment about showing conditional love, but imagine if you were dating God, and he said this. It would be pretty unsatisfying, no? It would to me.
