Hasan, EMKR built a plant here last year, just outside the Eubank gate near Kirtland AFB/Sandia. I think it's primarily for high efficiency solar cells as I think the Mode Div VCSEL plant is up on the north side of the city. I can't remember who bought Motorola's ceramic chip packaging plant last year...they make and package ceramic chip packages for cell phones. It may have closed as my daughter worked there last summer as they were having drastic cutbacks. Lightpath is doubling production here, general optimism on the parts of the employees I know. INTC is expanding their fab here, and transferring some up to C-Springs to open a new flash memory plant there. Sumitomo Sitix is expanding, but the Philips Electronics plant sits pretty much empty.
