A lot of machines are upgraded just to have the latest, the "me too" syndrome. Will having a CPU 2x faster make me 2x more productive? Will it make me a better trader? Will it add to the bottom line? No. I build a business case to justify the expenditure, same as for any client. It's getting closer but no cigar yet. I'm using a 56k modem dialup line but will move to highspeed Sympatico when available here. At that time (expected end of year) I will upgrade the 2 trading boxes to handle the faster data rates. Cable is not available either.
