Palm Pilot Production Delayed Due to Parts Delays, Paper Says

Santa Clara, California, May 23 (Bloomberg) -- Palm Inc.'s
production of all models of its popular handheld devices has been
slowed because of a shortage of key parts, USA Today reported.
Palm Pilots are back-ordered at retailers Amazon.com Inc. and
Circuit City Group, among others, while Palm's online store won't
have some models in stock for several weeks. Palm Chief Financial
Officer Judy Bruner said the problem is due to the production of
cellular phones, which contains the same memory and LCD screen
parts used to make the Palm Pilot, the paper said.

3Com Corp., the No. 2 networking-equipment maker that owns
95 percent of Palm, plans to spin off its stake in the company to
3Com shareholders in July.
