Hey! I have been told Cisco doesn't even have this:
WaveRider Introduces New 11 Mbps Wireless Bridge/Router 12:00 EST Tuesday, May 23, 2000
TORONTO, ONTARIO--WaveRider Communications Inc. (NASD-OTC BB: WAVC, Frankfurt WVR.FSE), a global provider of fixed wireless Internet access products, today launched the feature and performance leader in wireless bridge/routers, the NCL1135. WaveRider's NCL1135 provides high-speed wireless connectivity for LAN-to-Internet and LAN-to-LAN applications, enabling fast, reliable connections over distances up to 10 miles between corporate computer networks, outlying offices, and the Internet.
Since early 1999, more than 1,000 WaveRider NCL Series systems have been installed in over 30 countries throughout the world. The NCL Series family also includes the entry-level NCL135 1.6 Mbps wireless bridge/router, ideal for wireless networking applications with modest bandwidth requirements.
"The NCL1135 is an exciting addition to WaveRider's existing family of wireless bridges and routers," said Charles Brown, Vice President of Marketing, WaveRider. "It combines excellent reliability and real-world data throughput with industry-leading system software, including SNMP network management, robust routing functionality, and RF management tools. At speeds of up to 11 Mbps, it delivers the performance required for today's high-bandwidth network applications. The NCL1135 effectively competes with 10BaseT and leased-line performance, with a low, one-time cost-of-entry."
The NCL1135 uses Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) technology at 2.4 GHz, a license-exempt band in the U.S., Canada, and many other countries. Companies around the world can deploy the NCL1135 quickly and easily without applying for regulatory approvals. Deploying WaveRider's wireless bridges and routers eliminates the recurring service charges of leased copper or fiber lines.
Supporting both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communication, the NCL1135 provides an ideal solution for:
- Providing high-speed Internet access in areas lacking a suitable copper wire or fiber infrastructure
- Linking remote offices to corporate headquarters without the recurring costs of leased lines
- Connecting academic or corporate campus buildings to each other and to the Internet
- Providing high-speed WAN or Internet services for temporary facilities, special events, etc.
The NCL1135 can be configured as either a wireless bridge or router, supporting learning mode or static routing and RIPv2, respectively. In either mode, the NCL1135 is a fully-managed network device, compliant with SNMPv2 to ensure trouble-free integration into existing networks. The NCL1135 comes with a full suite of RF (Radio-Frequency) management and installation tools to facilitate rapid and optimal deployment.
