To Gregor and Prolife: I used to believe in eternal security. It's still hard not too when you listen to someone like Charles Stanley. There really is a fine line when you think about. I mean if it's all from God, then how can I change it? From there we go into predestination and so on.
For me though, I never really had peace thinking that I was totally and forever secure, no matter what I do. We ARE if we stay in Christ. As one friend said, "Jesus said he'd never leave nor forsake us. He didn't say we wouldn't leave or forsake Him". Many believers think or have been taught that Jesus is saviour but in essence we're still lord, or we have that option. If we settled that, we wouldn't worry about it. As one preacher said (who happened to believe eternal security), "Why are you asking?" It's hardly a thought when Jesus is truly our Lord.
As far as Pentecostal vs Baptist, or charismatic as opposed to non charismatic, I don't know. One group always hears from God, and the other one never does. Of course, I'm joking. Still sometimes, if I hear another "Thus sayeth the Lord..." that doesn't come to pass, I just might start my own religion.
Who was it that sounded the y2k alarms? Oh yeah, all of 'em. |
