Jim,
I had the exact same thoughts on USV.
I bought the USV PRA today at 9-5/16 when the common started to bottom, but at the close I sold at 9-11/16 when the common couldn't hold most of it's gain. I think the preferred is pretty safe at these levels, but I'm not trying to catch the bottom perfectly. I'd rather see the common drop some more or cross over 9 before I buy any more of the preferred.
CEI has been pretty strong, but the CEI PRA didn't make the move, so I'll be switching some when it stalls out, and maybe just adding the preferreds first.
I'm trying to pick up some CWN near 5-1/4 as the dividend is only a week away, but I won't hold it.
LTC should be declaring soon, but again, I wouldn't recommend buying it until the dividend is declared and not cut.
JDN finally announced a dividend and that they have settled some of the mess. The dividend was cut from .395 to .30
