It's not a trade. I can't respect your belief just because you respect mine- if you do respect mine. And since you probably don't even know what mine are I don't see HOW you could possibly make that judgment. There are very few beliefs I could respect (which means to ESTEEM, after all). I am basically an anti-belief creature. The only "religion" that comes close to being able to incorporate a mind like mind is Buddhism- so I CAN respect Buddhism. Doesn't mean I can BELIEVE it. I might be able to respect you, the person, apart from your belief- but I really can't say- since I don't know you. Tolerance of the practices of other people (I can be tolerant) is different than "respect".
