I think and hope that I understand. I popped in about X--about whom I really don't know enough to speak on behalf of, although I respect her--because you seemed to be sitting in judgement on her. From what I have observed of her, God--if one exists--would have a hearty laugh at and appreciation of her wit and her courage and enjoy surprising her with heaven.

And if there is no God and no heaven, her life--and ours--simply stand for all time to inspire others to live honestly, doing good where we can because it is in us to do and the right thing.

It is the moral imperative, to go back to certain philosophers. It is not about anything except what we think we are about--in this sense, Neocon is dead on--if we believe, for whatever reason, that we must behave in a certain fashion toward one another. Steven is quite right to question the underpinnings of these beliefs; they must be held up for question all the time and my logical mind approves every time he does so--even as I note that in his own life he lives out the moral imperative of which I mentioned.

I fear that I babble. What I am trying to say is that each individual life is so challenging that no one except God can judge it--and that none of us has the God's-eye view.
