Firsthand sent a letter to shareholders over a year ago, asking for opinions on a redemption fee. The hot fund was getting a lot of short-term traders, which adds to total expenses. If it helps to lower the management fee in the future, I'm all for it, as I wrote Firsthand then.

This is fairer than raising the management fee for all shareholders, as you seem to suggest.
