This is a followup to Intel's announced $2bn flash chip expansion. Elmer posted it on the Intel thread. In this article the Flash Memory Group manager made the following claim:

"We're investing heavily in 4 chip facilities and new chip-making processes that will put us at least 18 months ahead of our closest competitors."

Now I would love to ask this sucker for a link; however since that is not practical, does anyone have a clue as to the basis for his contention that Intel will be well ahead of competitors in flash production?
