Sounds like what I do, when I work... a habit I am trying to breal myself of :)

I'm a mianframe contractor (consultant if you like). I go in, I do my job, I prune the client of whatever money I can extract, and off I go to the next gig. Right now, I am in y2k recovery mode, having billed (not worked mind you, but billed) 4000 hours a year for the last 10 years. WHen I wrapped up at BellSouth last Sept., I decided to lay low, and since then have taken only one short contract for the IRS since then. Funny, when I told them my rate was $150/hr, they complained that it was too high. I asked them if they would prefer to pay me 33% of their net adjusted income. Somehow, they missed the humor there :)
