Karen, if someone challenged me and said "prove" trees fall in the woods. I might take them to the woods, show them bent, broken and fallen trees. Show them how the wind bends the branches, measure the angle of the trees which have fallen. And basically collect data upon which my "belief" is based. Otherwise, I have a belief rooted simply in "faith".
If someone believes these sort of actions happen "all the time" it's logical to ask the question. What do you base those beliefs on? Have they heard rumors? Have they actually seen a custody dispute cleared in this manner? Have they read about a few reports in the paper, on the net, and so forth. The internet can scour thousands of newspapers in the blink of an eye. It's logical to assume *one* article was written to substantiate the claim that it happens "all the time". Otherwise, it's simply "faith". Unless, you're arguing the belief is based on "faith". Which is an entirely different issue.
I believe there probably have been *extremely* rare cases, in which a hot-shot sherriff in some out of the way town, broke into someones house (without a court order) to snatch a child. I also believe the action was illegal. *Extremely rare* and *all the time* are completely different phrases which hold completely different connotations.
Hyperbole and illogical can be one and the same. It's illogical and full of hyperbole to say the family was a bunch of "kidnapers". If they were regarded as a bunch of "kidnappers" they undoubtedly would have been arrested and charged with a crime. The simple fact is they were law abiding citizens. And still are to this day.
My point is why use this kind of obviously inflammed language when it's simply not true? Do people who support the actions of the Justice Department need these kind of images painted in their mind in order to back up their "faith" that it happens "all the time"? And was the right thing to do?
Lastly, I have not criticized Rambi for her illogic. I have criticized the Justice department, the political leadership and some other posters on this thread. It's admirable that you've knee jerked this defense for Rambi, I think she's a terrific person too. And I believe I know her well enough to know she she would not view my post as a personal attack on her.
