If you really want to protect yourself right now, short against the box. Short the shares SUNW in the exact amount. That will protect you regardless of which directions SUNW heads in the short term. The last time I looked at the chart and P/E, there was plenty of fat to trim on SUNW before it settles down. Otherwise, the near term CCs will do little to cushion your drops. You need massive dollars to protect your downside. Going out a few month will help a great deal by bringing in more money. No, you are not stuck waiting for the CC expiration. You could always cover albeit, perhaps at a slight lost.

Right now, your biggest threat is how far SUNW will drop.
