StockHawk: As a reluctant (extremely reluctant BTW) purchaser of Gemstar, I will speak to your point as best I can.

For me, I was dubious that Gemstar fit my interest in wireless and fiberoptics. Mike and NYStew and others argued persuasively that the two way TV was just around the corner and that Gemstar was in the catbird seat (baseball stuff) when that took place. I bought - with trepidation. Did what I could to confirm but this is really stretching my area of real knowledge.

Now what?

Two way TV exchange of data and substance is still a weak reed on which to lean IMO, but it is the only possibility of a real "tornado", so I wait..and wait..and wait.

In this case, fundamentals have not changed - and in this case that may be bad.

But as is my approach, I will wait (and hopefully see).

Best.

PS Of course if Gemstar were in fiberoptics that would be different. My knowledge of the technology would give me comfort. Here, I have discomfort.

PPS That BTW is why I think the setting for a company - the technology - is the sine qua non.
