Motorola to build facility near Detroit

NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 24 (Reuters) - Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT - news) said
Wednesday it will build a facility in Farmington Hills, Mich. to produce electronic
components and systems for use in automobiles.

The three-story, 125,000-square-foot building is expected to accommodate 500 people on a 23-acre site. It will nearly double
the size of existing locations serving automotive customers and accommodating future growth, according to Motorola, which
supplies computer chips, electronic systems and communications products to the automotive industry.

The building will combine all Motorola's businesses serving automotive customers in the Detroit area under one roof.

``We are clearly demonstrating that Motorola is committed to the automotive industry and greater Detroit area,'' said Joe
Guglielmi, president of Motorola's integrated electronic systems group.

The cost to construct the building was not made available. Construction is set to begin this summer and finish by 2001.
