Has anyone heard about any problems with the Toshiba MPEG2 decoders?

I heard a rumor that the Samsung DVD box which received such poor reviews in the U.S. used a "buggy" Toshiba decoder. However, the Toshiba DVD boxes, which I presume use Toshiba decoders, seem to work fine. Maybe Toshiba has several chip models or perhaps different mask versions of the decoders and it keeps the good ones for its players.
