johnd--I'm very impressed with TPJ and his handling of this case. I think he would be most vulnerable on appeal if he orders a breakup and probably won't do it. But his remedy may be worse for MSFT. The conduct remedies are a given, I think, and will apply to the MS Office monopoly as well as the Windows monopoly, I predict. Instead of a breakup, though, he might order the public release of the Windows source code. Many MSFT supporters on this thread talk ad nauseum about how much MSFT has helped the consumer. Well, what could help the consumer more than a free OS?? The Windows division of MSFT could be like Redhat and the other Linux companies that support free software. Just a thought.
