As I stood in a supermarket checkout line at midday,
the down market must have subliminally caused me to reach
for a Russell Stover Pecan Delight (pecans and caramel
covered in milk chocolate). With the afternoon rally,
I can now enjoy that impulse purchase with a glass of
(sigh) water.

I said to the checkout lady, "I didn't see your blackbird
today," and she said they finally got it out of the store
yesterday. It was a large glossy bird that was pecking
away at what looked like spilled popcorn kernels when I
was in the store Sunday evening. As I approached, it
rose like a helicopter and flapped over to Frozen Dinners.
