USA Video Productions Announces Executive Appointments Owners of Motion Inc. to Head USA Video Interactive Content Production Subsidiary
MAY 24, 2000 - MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT - Close on the heels of its successful initial webcast production of The Webby Awards 2000, USA Video Interactive's (NQB: USVO; CDNX: US; www.usvo.com) subsidiary, USA Video Productions, Inc. today announced that Glenn Orkin and Ed McKeon, the owners of Motion Inc., will serve as President and Vice President of the new division. Motion Inc. has been associated with USA Video Interactive since last April; today's development expands and formalizes the relationship of the two companies.
USA Video Productions, Inc., was formed to bring the highest quality content production and webcasting to the Internet, making it accessible to millions of viewers via its streaming video and video-on-demand technologies. Now that USA Video Productions is fully operational, USA Video Interactive provides a complete end-to-end solution for bringing events to the public via the Internet, or can provide any aspect of that service to customers.
Glenn Orkin is an award-winning video producer and filmmaker who currently serves as a director of The Connecticut Film Commission. He directly headed a team of more than 30 technicians and broadcast engineers for USA Video Productions in producing the webcast for The Webby Awards 2000. His awards include regional Emmys, Cine Golden Eagle, Gold Cindy, Gold Worldfest Award, and International Communications Gold Plaque. His career in broadcasting and filmmaking began in 1973 as an archivist with ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) in Mainz, Germany. He started with the Times Mirror Cable Television Company and its public access stations as a producer/director in 1976, and began working as a news editor at WFSB, a CBS affiliate, in 1983. In 1984, he began working at Motion Inc. and in 1987, bought the company and also served as an advisor to Wesleyan University's filmmaking senior program. As President of Motion, Inc., Orkin has produced and directed hundreds of commercials, ! corporate videos and educational programs including a children's series about Lyme Disease which was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and distributed to schools and libraries throughout the U.S. Other Motion, Inc. customers include Aetna, Arbor Acres, Fleet Bank, Gerber Scientific, ESPN, Otis Elevator, Pitney Bowes, Prentice Hall, Mass Mutual, Phoenix Home Life, The Hartford, The Travelers, Trinity College and Wadsworth Atheneum.
In 1991, Ed McKeon, a writer and corporate television producer with more than 15 years experience, joined Motion, Inc. as Orkin's partner. McKeon began his career with The Hartford Times and then began corporate writing with Travelers, heading up the company's Marketing and Creative Services unit and later being named Manager of Travelers In-House Studios where he supervised hundreds of productions and created a state-of-the-art production studio. He helped introduce non-linear video and interactive training at Travelers and received a pioneering award for his innovative, non-linear, touch-screen based employee communications program in 1987. He then moved to Mass Mutual as Director of Creative Services where he was responsible for the creation of commercials, printed informational and promotional material and television programs. McKeon then started his own company, working as a producer and consultant for several Fortune 500 companies.
Since teaming up at Motion, Inc., Orkin and McKeon have produced a series of music documentaries carried by Public Television Stations in over 35 states. They also produced three television programs about outdoor photography for the Outdoor Life Channel. Currently they are working on a documentary about Puerto Rican music in conjunction with Trinity College, and continue their work on a series of career videos for Connecticut Business and Industry Association.
